What is a Family Physician?
A family physician is trained in general healthcare, dermatology, and office surgery. Board certification in family medicine requires at least three years of specialty training after medical school, ongoing medical education, and re-certification examinations every seven years. Dr. Martin Franklin is board-certified in Family Medicine.

By developing a long-term relationship with a doctor you trust, and one who knows your medical history, you will receive appropriate treatment for acute illnesses, and preventative guidance that can help you maintain good health.

How do I make or change an appointment?
For established patients, please call 830-792-5800 to make or change an appointment. If you are not an established patient, call us and we would be happy to help you through the process to become one.
Does the Franklin Clinic accept new patients?
Yes, the Franklin Clinic accepts new patients of most ages. You can find new patient forms here .
I am a new patient. What should I bring to my first appointment?
We will need a picture ID and your most current insurance card. We will ask you to present these at each visit. All payments are expected prior to each visit.
Accepting New Patients
What are your office hours?
The Franklin Clinic is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Saturdays, 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Please call for holiday schedule.
How do I contact the clinic after hours?
For non-urgent matters, call the clinic and leave your message and we will return your call the next business day. However, if you have an emergency please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. The physician on call or the emergency room physician will tend to your immediate medical needs.
What should I do in case of an emergency?
In the case of a true emergency, always call 911. However, if you have a routine illness or minor injury, the Franklin Clinic is happy to try to work you into our schedule as quickly as possible.
How do I request a prescription refill?
Call your pharmacy, and they will contact us for a refill. Please allow 48 business hours for a refill request response. Then follow up with your pharmacy for status.
Do you perform labs in your office?
Yes, we can perform routine blood work and various in-house CLIA waived testing ordered by our providers. We are unable to perform testing ordered by outside providers, but can help direct you to the appropriate facility.
Do I have to pay at the time of service?
Yes, insurance co-pays, deductibles or other applicable payment in full is expected at the time of service.
